Spitballing Ideas
I have a tendency to take on too much for one person to do quickly, but I wanted to share some of the plans we want to implement:
Civic Education Resources: When I was learning about local government, it took some digging to find the information and how everything works. I know that many people don’t have time to go digging, so I’d like to compile the information into an easily accessible format for all residents to view at their convenience.
Local Budget Breakdown: This is another topic that takes time and effort to understand. I believe everyone has a right to know how the Village Government uses our money. I would like to break it down piece by piece with explanations for clear understanding
A clothing drive where residents can donate clothes they no longer need to neighbors in need. This would be especially great for kids since they outgrow their clothes so quickly.
Regular meetings, perhaps monthly, where residents can come and discuss local issues, plan events, and brainstorm solutions.
Recurring Clean-Up Events “Clean Lyons”: Although some areas are better than others, there always seems to be litter around. Perhaps we can host a Clean Lyons event every 3 months or so where residents pick up garbage together.
