Spitballing Ideas

I have a tendency to take on too much for one person to do quickly, but I wanted to share some of the plans we want to implement:

  • Civic Education Resources: When I was learning about local government, it took some digging to find the information and how everything works. I know that many people don’t have time to go digging, so I’d like to compile the information into an easily accessible format for all residents to view at their convenience.

  • Local Budget Breakdown: This is another topic that takes time and effort to understand. I believe everyone has a right to know how the Village Government uses our money. I would like to break it down piece by piece with explanations for clear understanding

  • A clothing drive where residents can donate clothes they no longer need to neighbors in need. This would be especially great for kids since they outgrow their clothes so quickly.

  • Regular meetings, perhaps monthly, where residents can come and discuss local issues, plan events, and brainstorm solutions.

  • Recurring Clean-Up Events “Clean Lyons”: Although some areas are better than others, there always seems to be litter around. Perhaps we can host a Clean Lyons event every 3 months or so where residents pick up garbage together.
